17 YEAR OLD PERMITS

1.)  Pass a vision test
2.)  Pass a written test

Seventeen (17) year olds are not required to do the 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction in order to receive their permit.  Parents are permitted to purchase a permit for their child at NJ Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) and can begin driving after passing an eye test and either providing the high school test waiver card or passing the written test at MVC.

once the requirements are met as stated above, an appointment is scheduled six (6) months from that date.  Students must practice driving for a minimum of six (6) months before taking the road test.
